Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about a mortgage review.
What is a mortgage review?
A mortgage review is a free, no-obligation look at your current mortgage. We compare your existing rate and product against the options available — including a product transfer with your current lender — to see whether a switch could benefit you, or whether staying put is the right answer. Think of it as an annual MOT for your mortgage.
How much does it cost?
The initial review is free. We only charge a fee if you decide to proceed with a remortgage or product transfer through us, and all fees are transparent and agreed upfront — see our fee structure page for full details.
Will a review affect my credit score?
No. The initial review is done without any credit search. We only proceed to a full mortgage application — which does involve a credit check — if you decide to switch and give us permission to proceed.
How often should I review my mortgage?
We recommend reviewing your mortgage at least once a year, and especially in the 6 months before your fixed or tracker deal ends. This gives you time to secure a new deal before you're moved onto your lender's typically higher SVR.
I'm happy with my current lender — can you still help?
Absolutely. A review isn't just about switching lenders — we also check whether your current lender offers a better product transfer rate, whether you could benefit from overpayments, or whether your protection policies still meet your needs.
