Remortgages
Whether your current deal is ending or you want to release equity from your home, remortgaging could save you money or help you achieve your goals.
Tailored advice for your situation
When is the right time to remortgage?
The best time to start looking is 3–6 months before your current fixed or discount rate ends. If you do nothing, your lender moves you onto their standard variable rate (SVR), which is typically much higher and can add hundreds of pounds to your monthly payment.
Securing a new deal early locks in a rate and gives you time to compare the whole market rather than rushing. Some lenders even let you book a rate up to six months ahead, so you're protected if rates rise before your current deal ends.
Remortgage to release equity
If your home has increased in value or you've paid down part of your mortgage, you may be able to borrow against that equity. Common reasons include home improvements, funding a deposit for a second property, or consolidating more expensive debts.
Borrowing more increases your mortgage balance and monthly payments, and debt consolidation can extend the term of your borrowing. We'll help you weigh the savings against the costs and check that the figures genuinely work in your favour.
Product transfers vs a full remortgage
A product transfer moves you to a new deal with your existing lender. It's usually quicker, with fewer checks and lower fees, because there's no new legal work or valuation needed. For some borrowers it's the simplest option.
However, staying with your current lender means you only see their deals — not the whole market. We'll compare your lender's product transfer rate against everything else available, so you know whether loyalty is costing you money.
